Michigan Monday: Spring Game Not So Deep Thoughts

I recorded the Spring Game and got to fast forward the commercials.  It was nice being able to watch a game in a short amount of time.   That is if you could call Saturday's afternoon scrimmage a game.  The first quarter highlighted Bryce and Marshall but no tackling.  The rest of the game was full contact unless you are a QB.

Many Michigan fans thought Bryce had a poor to bad freshman year leading the team at the QB position.  I was a little more warm about his first year as Michigan's QB.  Going from High School to playing on the road at Oklahoma, is a Grand Canyon jump in competition.  No, he didn't light the world on fire, but all that experience goes into his memory bank.  If you remember, JJ was not really even allowed to throw the ball his Freshman year.

Now Bryce has a new staff, a QB coach, and his even hired his own QB coach.  On Saturday we expected to see a guy that is better with his fundamentals to match his immense talent.  What we saw, was some of the same troubles he had last year.  Bad footwork, bad decisions, and inaccurate throws.  As many of you know, guys with incredible arm talent, sometimes lack the proper QB fundamentals as they can just rely on their powerful arm.  This is what I see with Bryce, his fundamentals go out the door when he gets pressure.

Now the offense line looked terrible in the first quarter as Bryce had zero time to pass the ball.  The protection seemed to get better as the game went on.

To make the pressure even worse on the former 5 star, his true freshman backup Carr had a very nice day and looked like the more competent QB.  If Bryce is going to become a better QB, he has to do it when no one is watching.  The time is now and the time is this summer.  I watched Justin Fields at Ohio State's first Spring Game, he was awful and couldn't complete a pass.  He got a ton better in that summer.  It's time for Bryce to do the same.

  • I was very concerned about the offense line in the first quarter.  They still have a ton of work to do and getting guys back from injury.
  • The defense line looked pretty good but was that them stepping up or the offensive line being bad?
  • Hiter is going to be special, he did not look like a true freshman.  Brown also looked very good.  The RB room is in great shape!
  • Carr was incredible and like I said above, was the best QB on the field.  He threw accurately and even has some speed to get outside and first downs.  MVP of the Day.
  • In a 7-6 game, the defense is way ahead of the offense, which is not uncommon at this stage.  Nothing to worry about.
  • There was a couple drops at WR, but I do like the talent in that room and Michigan looks like they are good shape with all the transfer coming in.  Moa could be special but needs the summer in the weight room and the nutrition program.
  • Bobby Kanka local kid, made a huge hit on 4th down on the goal line.
  • It was hard trying to watch the secondary on BTN, but they looked like they were fundamentally in the right places and were breaking up passes.
  • Didn't love the Pitt kicker missing a makeable field goal.  There was no punting or kick returns.
The Spring Game is meant to show like 10% of the offense and defense.  Bryce has a lot of work to do and Michigan needs to take many more steps forward to be playoff worthy next season.  I'm going to trust Coach Whitt that the team is together and got better during this period.  That is all you can ask for.  During the summer, they need to take another big step forward.

Michigan Friday: Spring Game - What I Want To See

Michigan's Spring Game and the first one under Coach Whitt is tomorrow.   It looks to be a chilly, windy, and maybe a rainy day.  Perfect Football weather! 2:00 on BTN

Here is my wish list of what I want to do see:

  1. Nothing - I want to see the most vanilla offense and defense possible.  The coaches are smart enough to not show anything important. I actually would prefer not to see Bryce, Marshall, Marsh and any other important player.  It's ok, if Hiter has a couple runs but not many!
  2. Fundamental Football - Good Blocking and Tackling
  3. Depth on both lines
  4. A Freshman WR that can contribute next season
  5. Better Special Teams
  6. Good Field Goal Kicking and Punting
  7. Did Michigan get the best Carr QB?
  8. A star TE in the making
  9. Strong LB play
  10. Good depth at CB and Safety
  11. Herbie's kid getting snaps
  12. A similar smile on Coach Whitt's face like Harbaugh had when he realized in his first Spring Game, that he really is the Head Coach of the Michigan Wolverines.
The most important thing - No injuries!

Enjoy the day!

Michigan Thursday: News and Notes

  • Yax was at Golden State @ Clippers last night.  We wish him good luck with the NBA Draft!
  • I trust Dusty, but the lack of transfer portal commits is making me a bit nervous
  • It seems the new Michigan Football staff is finding its footing for the 2027 class.  Always a slow start when you have a brand new staff.
  • Michigan and Marquette has signed a home and home.  First game is at Crisler next November.
  • Mara seems to be leaning to the NBA Draft while keeping his college eligibility
  • Not sure we are going to learn much from the Spring Game this weekend if its the 2's and 3's.  Which is fine with me.  Keep the real offense and defense under wraps.
  • New Michigan President has brain cancer and will not take office, we wish him well and good health through this process.
  • Oscar Goodman is back next year for Michigan Basketball.

Michigan Monday: Masters Thoughts and Scrimmage Thoughts

There is an old saying in professional tournament golf, "you can't win the tournament on Thursday but you sure can lose it."  I think Rory might have just been then exception to the rule.  Rory played great golf on Thursday and Friday in Augusta and then held on during Saturday and Sunday as his game went in the other direction.   Rory was -12 on Friday night and Scottie was even.  On Sunday night, Rory was -12 and Scottie was -11.   Rory left the door open for everyone in the field to come get him and many played really well, just none of them were close enough to the lead to over take him.

Congrats to Rory for going back to back, it was just unfortunate for us fans who wanted some Sunday drama.

Todd Blackledge is not someone I would consider a college football insider.  He is just a solid color commentator on NBC. Though working for NBC gives him some access to Michigan Football.  Here is a tweet from the weekend:

Felt like a crisp fall morning watching @UMichFootball

scrimmage. Takeaways: *Expect Underwood to make a jump in development under OC Jason Beck & watchful eye of QB coach Koy Detmer. *OL has talent, but must improve as pass protectors. *RB,DL,DB all can be strong groups.

The offensive line Pass Pro is obviously an issue but I'm also wondering who was playing and who wasn't.  This might be the best representation of what we might see next season as the Spring Game is expected to be just a back-up bowl.   It's encouraging to hear Bryce is making progress under the new staff.

  • Michigan Basketball had a great weekend with a Championship Parade!  Though their portal recruitment is off to a bit of shaky start.  Michigan had Juke Harris on campus Saturday for the parade but now reports are that UNC is offering him $5.5M to play for them next season.  Kansas big man Flory Bidunga decided to take the bag from Louisville over Michigan and others.
  • Congrats to JJ and his wife who got married last weekend.

Michigan Thursday: News and Notes

  • Freshman Guard Winters Grady who had a foot injury early this season is in the transfer portal and looking for a new home, he will have 4 years of eligibility left.  We wish him well!
  • Seems that Wake Forest 6'7 guard Juke Harris is planning on visiting Ann Arbor this weekend.  Juke averaged 21 points per game and put 19 on Michigan when they played this season.  Yes, Please!
  • Pippen who transferred from Michigan to CAL is back in the portal again.
  • Coach Whitt says Spring Game will be mostly for the 2 and 3's.
  • RB Micah Ka’apana suffered a lower leg injury and will be out for the season. That guy has had incredibly bad luck so far with injuries.
  • Michigan is starting to trend for recent visitor in 4-star QB Kamden Lopati who is currently an Illinois commit.
  • Former Michigan Guard Tre Donaldson is turning pro. He was at Miami last season.

Michigan Tuesday: Spring Practice News and Notes

Michigan is in its 2nd week of Spring Practice and things are starting to sneak out and players are meeting with the media.  Here is what I've gathered from a number of sources:

  • Bryce is struggling a bit but being coached the way he should've been as a Freshman.  No one is concerned as this is a new offense and its still very early.  He also is still a young QB that didn't have a QB coach last season.  Which was a huge mistake.
  • Michigan's Oline is still banged up but could be elite when healthy and under the coaching of Jim Harding.
  • Could Michigan have one of the best WR's rooms in the country?  Maybe!
  • Carr has looked good but BFN is not on campus yet and the LSU QB is expected to redshirt due to injury.
  • Defense is ahead of the offense, which is not uncommon at this point.
  • True Freshman WR Travis Johnson has impressed in camp.
  • The culture is more Harbaugh like vs. what the team has had the last 2 years.
  • The S&C program is completely different and good different.
  • Hiter of course looks good with a huge upside.
  • John Henry Daley spoke to the media and is feeling good and is expected to be cleared for full football activity on 6/1!
  • JJ Buchanan has impressed and spoke to the media, he expects this WR room to be elite.
  • Transfer CB Smith Snowden says the team has bought in to the new staff and new approach.
--------
  • U of M Women's Basketball lost to Texas last night, still one of the best seasons in program history!
  • There is some smoke around 5 star Brandon McCoy joining Dusty's program!
  • That 7'9 guy on Florida's roster is entering the portal, if he fits.

Michigan Friday: Time To Play Better in The Windy City

Michigan has played a lot in Chicago in the last couple weeks.  If you count the Northwestern game, tonight is the 5th game for the Wolverines in Chicago since February 11th.

Michigan finally has had some time to rest as they have had almost a week off, with their last game early last Saturday.  Rest and Recovery is important and so is the extra time to prepare for an Alabama team that can score the basketball.   Michigan has struggled at bit on defense against teams that can shoot the 3 and strong on the offensive end.   Working for a week on covering the 3 point line, I hope was a focus for Dusty and his talented Wolverines.  I would love to see Michigan stay with the shooters and not collapse in the lane when a point guard drives.  I'm not a math guy, but I'm still pretty sure 3 is more then 2.

Michigan will continue to need a great effort in the low post, while hitting a majority of their 3's.  I still tend to lean on the seniors and would love to see a smart effort from Gayle, Yax needs to be Yax, Burnett defending and hitting 3's, and Tschetter hitting 3's and getting boards.

Lastly, from here on out, Michigan can not have a "sleepy" first half and needs to be locked in from the jump.   If Michigan can play their best basketball and focus in, I like our chances.

  • Someone woke up Warde and he says he wants Dusty to be Michigan's coach for a long time and will work with him on that goal.   A real leader would've understood that before premier jobs became available.
  • The Big Ten had a good night last night as Purdue beat Texas at the buzzer, Iowa beat Nebraska by 10, and Illinois beat Houston in Houston.  We hope those trends continue tonight with Michigan and MSU both hitting the floor.
  • From many of the players, it seems Coach Whitt is more like Harbaugh then the past two years have been.  That the weight room is much different in a positive way.

Michigan Thursday: Safeties for Miles

On Tuesday Michigan picked up a 2027 Safety commit in Darrell Mattision (no relation to the former Michigan assistant coach).  On Wednesday Michigan did it again and got a commit from 2027 Safety Maxwell Miles (no relation to the former Michigan assistant coach).  Ok, that is weird coincidence.

Max Miles is a 3-star S at 6'2 190 pounds from Vegas. Max had offers from Vandy, UNLV, Wake, Hawaii, Boise State, Wash State and others.  Welcome Max!

  • The Madness starts again tonight.
  • The Wolverines left for Chicago yesterday.
  • Rod Moore on his knee recovery: "So I think now, right now, I had a cleanup surgery right in, what was it? January. It was just cleaning up scar tissue. That's really what was kind of bothering my knee, all the clicking and stuff. And that's gone. And right now I'm just really back in and returning to play, about to be back in practice here soon. So I probably felt the best that I've felt ever since I tore my ACL. So, that's the trajectory here. Just building on what I'm at right now and then go out and play."

Michigan Tuesday: News and Notes

  • Reports are that Yax turned down a $7-$9M offer from Kentucky and picked Michigan for $3M.  Smart kid.
  • 4 former Wolverines are in the UFL: Taco in Dallas, Chris Hinton Louisville, JBB in Columbus, and Michael Barrett in St. Louis.
  • Scout Michigan's Thursday opponent tonight! UMBC vs. Howard in Dayton.  6:40 on TruTV
  • Coach Whitt's first Spring Practice starts today!
  • Coach Lou's son Louis who is a Michigan commit and a high rising recruit will be on campus today for the 1st practice!
  • You know what the NBA regular season needs? 2 more expansion teams.  Seattle and Vegas are in play.  Just like Baseball, the NBA needs to cut down their regular season by a month at least.
  • Michigan Basketball leaves for Buffalo today, seems a little early.
  • Sounds like teams are seeing if JJ is available after the Kyler Murray signing.
  • Happy St. Patrick's Day!
Update on Spring Practice from Coach Whitt:
  • OL Andrew Babalola, DL John Henry Daley and DB Rod Moore will not be available for Spring Practice and want them ready for Game 1.
  • Andrew Marsh, Jamie Ffrench, JJ Buchanan and Salesi Moa all have the chance to be great Big Ten receivers.
  • Expectation is to contend for a Big Ten Championship every year.
  • Hiter is going to be special and Carr is trending to be QB #2
  • Already gains made with Winter Conditioning

Michigan Tuesday: Names Spring Captains

Michigan Football has much needed new leadership this year and they have new policy and procedures.  The newest procedure is naming Spring Captains, which makes sense as there are lots of new players on the roster from the portal, Utah, and true freshman.

The 2026 Spring Captains are Rod Moore, Trey Pierce, Jordan Marshall and Bryce Underwood. There is also a leadership counsel made up of 15 players from each position group.

  • There was a outstanding question on why there wasn't announcement about Marsh staying?  They were waiting for his birthday and we got it yesterday!
  • Sounds like Brian Jean-Mary is heading to ND at a LB coach.
  • Dusty was at the Pistons Nets game to see Danny Wolf and Juwan Howard.
  • Vlad got the gameball for the Heat last night!
  • Gus Malzahn is retiring from coaching.

Michigan Friday: News and Notes Prior to the Spring Game

For those attending the Spring Game enjoy!

News and Notes
  • Michigan seems to be active in the portal for another RB.  How does that pitch go?   Would you like to be the 3rd string back up? CJ Hester from UMass will make a visit for the Spring Game.  He played very well against UGA after they let go Don Brown.
  • Bryce buys a car for a high school security guard that meant a lot to him.  Class act!
  • Former Michigan Basketball player who now been at 3 schools in 3 years Sam Walters picks Mississippi State for his next stop.  He needs to stay healthy and work on his defense.
  • Oregon's Putter is in the portal, he punted 9 total times last year.

Happy Easter to all that celebrate!

Michigan Thursday: Starting To Take Shape

Michigan plays its embargoed Spring Game this weekend.  It will not be shown live on TV as Michigan is trying to protect its player from being shopped like AI expert at a job fair.

Sounds like:
- Both QB's can spin it and showing great accuracy.
- Keene is back throwing from his mystery injury
Andrew Babalola was the first pick of the Spring Game (could be a freak Freshman starter on the OL!)
- New OC Chip Lindsey likes RB screens.  What?  I might be in love if that is the case! Not throwing more screens to the Don is maybe one of the worst mismanagement of a players potential/skill set ever!
- WR's are better and the IU transfer is really good.
- TE room is talented
- RB 1 and 2 are locked down.  #3 is a question with Ben Hall gone.

-Expectations is the defense should be ahead of the offense.
-Dline and Edge could be scary good.  Look out!
-LB seems really solid but the GA transfer is hurt and recovering from an expected surgery
-CB needs depth and probably needs +2 in the portal
-Safety will be fine when Rod Moore is back 100%.
-Need someone to grab the Nickel position

Punter?
Kicker = best in the country
  • Wolf as expected is heading to the NBA Draft.  Wish we had him for 2 years but best of luck to him!
  • The real Wink Martindale (game show host) has passed away.
  • Remember former commit Edge Elias Rudolph who was committed for about a month and then decommitted and went to Miami?  He just jumped into the portal after redshirting last season.
  • Lee Corso is retiring from Gameday and will do one more in Week 1.

Michigan Tuesday: More Guys Leaving Via The Portal

As we get deeper and deeper into Spring Practice, some players are seeing the writing on the wall that they are not going to see the field and maybe never will in Ann Arbor.   So they set their sites on the Spring Portal and hope to find a landing spot.

DE Aymeric Koumba - Has a really cool name, came from France has a high upside but that upside won't be realized in Ann Arbor.  Good Luck to him.

CB Ja'Den McBurrows - Has been in the program along time.  He has battled injuries good players in front of him and of course the tunnel incident.  Michigan needs depth at CB so the young guys must be really impressing in camp.  Rumors are Berry, Curtis, Metcalf and Lowe are all competing at Nickel right now.

LB Jason Hewlett - Was an Ohio based recruit in the 23 class that must not have seen a path to the field.

I 100% understand McBurrows but the other two guys probably needed more time in the program.   Michigan could use 1 or 2 more experienced CB's in the portal.

  • Mason Graham and Will Johnson will attend the NFL Draft in person.  There has been some buzz that Will Johnson might drop because he hasn't run the 40 due to his injury.
  • Also over the weekend, Michigan Basketball had its own portal trade if you will.  Dusty brought in 7'3 Aday Mara from UCLA and lost Phat Phat Brooks to the portal.  Phat Phat clearly didn't want to spend a few years on the bench while he waited for the path to clear to the court.
  • What happened at Tennessee over the weekend is just crazy.  I wonder which program is going to risk that situation with Nico at their most important position.
  • RIP to former LSU WR Lacy, he seemed troubled and would've gotten drafted with out his recent issues.
  • JT Vance broke Ohio State's National Championship Trophy.  I love that OSU is putting out statements like, the best run in college football history.  There isn't a Ohio State fan alive that doesn't think that run isn't tainted after the loss to Michigan.
  • Michigan is off the list for #1 recruit in the 2026 class OT Jackson Cantwell.  I guess the bag wasn't big enough.
  • Max Crosby will continue to be an NFL DE and also the GM of Eastern Michigan Football.

Michigan Tuesday: Brakes on the Axle?

Seems the Axle might be strongly leaning towards the NBA.  Even though he is a late first rounder or second, he told a Birmingham newspaper that he is 80-20 going to the league and Ann Arbor is a safety net.   We will see how his draft stock plays out, I remember a young Hunter Dickinson going through the draft process only to come back and play 14 more years of college basketball.

  • Congrats to Florida on the NCAA Championship last night.   Kelvin Sampson again misses out on the winning that National Championship.  I'm sure Jim Nance will be sad at Augusta this weekend.   Dusty's former recruit and player at FAU Alijah Martin is now a National Champion.
  • Augusta?  Welcome to Masters Week!
  • I hear OSU presumed QB starter is struggling in Spring Practice.  Which we hear every year.  I one time watched the Ohio State Spring Game and Justin Fields looked awful.  I think they leak that information on purpose.
  • Amorion Walker is listed on the Spring Roster without a number.  Coach Bellamy says, he is working through something.   Usually when a player doesn't have a number, he has work to do in the classroom.
  • One name I thought we would hear more from last season was MSU transfer Safety Jaden Mangham who played 2 years in East Lansing.  Sounds like Jaden got hurt in Fall camp and the learning curve between the two schools was larger than expected.   After red shirting last year, I expect a big year from Jaden.

Michigan Monday: Broome Swept The State of Michigan

Auburn is a good basketball team and they showed it against both state schools this weekend.   Michigan who had a fantastic year got hit late on Friday night and Sparty was taken out on Sunday afternoon.  Johni Broome was too much for either school to handle and he and his teammates are off to San Antonio and the Final 4.

Dusty gets an A+ this year.  It blows my mind how Izzo gets the "Coach of the Year" in the Big Ten and that Dusty is not being consider the coach of the year nationally.   Not sure what the media is watching.  Izzo does this every year and Dusty took the worst team in the Big Ten without a roster and turned it into a Big Ten Championship Tournament team.  Give the man his flowers!

Media gets an F for that effort.

  • Did the UFL sneak up on anyone else?
    • DeVeon Smith had 3 carries for 3 yards and 3 TD's.
    • JBB is still in the league
  • NFL is considering 18 games
  • The NCAA Tournament has all #1 seeds for the 2nd time in its history.  The last time it happen was 2008.
  • Maryland's head coach did move to Villanova over the weekend.
  • Bryce updated his roster photo, the saga is now over!
  • Reports are Keene is injured and not practicing right now.  There is some smoke that might mean he is looking to jump into the portal again.  I hope that is not the case, I love Underwood's upside, but Michigan needs an experience play caller to start the year.

Michigan Tuesday:The Pippen Decision

The timing of this decision is a bit perplexing but if you look further into it, maybe not.   Justin Pippen reportedly suffered a concussion in practice and did not make the trip to Denver.   In Football, injured players don't travel, I'm not sure what Dusty's rule is on this but interesting either way.   If you do have a serious concussion, traveling and being part of an NCAA Tournament game would not be doctor recommended.

Then maybe Justin looked at the roster next year.  Cason is clearly the next inline, Gayle, Donaldson, and Burnett are all expected back. Let's not forget Michigan is also bringing in 5-star Trey McKenny from Flint who is going to get minutes.   Not sure that leaves a ton of minutes for Pippen.

I don't love the timing with Michigan in the Sweet 16 but the portal is starting to heat up and Dusty seems very involved with a hand full of players already.  I liked Pippen's upside, I thought he was a better then average defender for a freshman and could hit an open 3.  His offensive game needs work but that is the case with many Freshman.

Either way, we wish him good luck at his new school.

Sherrone gave a Spring Practice Press Conference and mentioned a few things of note:

  • Rod Moore is not practicing yet but is expected to be ready for the season.  That talk he could be back for the OSU game last season was complete nonsense.
  • Being early enrolled is really helping Underwood, he is there early and stays late.  Very hard worker.
  • Sherrone likes the taller WR's in Spring Practice
  • Justice Haynes is working hard and showing he is a leader on and off the field.
  • Keene can make all the the throws and has over 2000 snaps in college football.
  • When it came to describing new OC Chip he used the word awesome a number of times
  • Still likes the Spring Game
  • Punter?  Hollenback is the starter.  In Breaking News: Marlin Klein TE can also Punt! (I should've lead with this story!)

If Michigan can get a defensive effort like it did against Alabama and find some offense from the QB position, I like our chances!  The running game should not miss a beat and could even be better then last year.

  • Frankie Collins is back in the portal again
  • 700 NCAA Basketball players entered the portal yesterday.

Michigan Friday: Ugly or Pretty a Win is a Win

Michigan Basketball is not going to win any basketball beauty pageants.  They fended off a pesky bunch from UC - San Diego in Denver last night.  At times it looked like Michigan was going to blow out the team from Sunny San Diego and then it looked like Michigan might give the game away.

I'm sure this team works on free throws in practice, it just doesn't look like it.   I'm sure this team works on protecting the ball in practice, even though that doesn't translate to the games.   I wish this squad had another year together, so they could play to their skill sets, understand Dusty' system better, and work on the few things that they struggle with.  Either way, Michigan is moving on and has another game on Saturday at 5:45 against the Aggies of Texas A&M.

Vlad led the team with 14, Tre got his customary 12, Wolf had a down game with 9, and it was nice to see Gale with a sore hammy score 11 points.   I think Gale''s slump has been a big reason for Michigan's inconsistent play.  In summer camp, Dusty thought Gale would be Michigan's best player this year and he has clearly struggled in Big Ten play.

  • It's hard to believe but Hunter Dickinson played his final college basketball game last night as Kansas lost to Coach Cal and Arkansas in the 1st round.
  • In somewhat of a surprise move, Michigan has offered FCS Campbell WR Sincere Brown, who had 61 catches over 1000 yards and 12 TD's last season.  He is also 6'5.  Yes, Please!   He is getting a lot of attention in the portal right now.
  • Matt Weiss is facing some serious computer hacking and identity theft federal charges.  Michigan did the right thing by separating from him quickly a few years ago.   If these charges are accurate, Matt is a deeply troubled person.
  • Michigan's social media showed a clip of Bryce Underwood throwing a few practice balls and I'm pretty sure the entire Michigan fan base all started dreaming at the same time of what is to come with the young talented QB.

Michigan Thursday: Let The Madness Begin

Michigan's Basketball Team has had an interesting year.   I've been trying to think of a proper football analogy to explain how their games go.  It's like when a football team has a QB that throws 3 picks and 1 fumble and still finds a way to win the game.  That is Michigan Basketball 2025-2024 season.  They now get to continue or end that season with a game in Denver against UC-San Diego who has 30 wins on the season.  (thank you NCAA Committee, can you please leave your Jim Harbaugh hate out of the basketball program, it was just a hamburger and a guy that figured out hand signals! ).

Michigan's formula for winning games is pretty easy.  Is Vlad scoring in the low post and are they shooting 3's at a decent percentage?  If both things are rolling, Michigan is one of the better teams in the country.  If its not going, Michigan looks like a pick-up game at the Villages senior community in Northern Florida.

Here's to Dusty finding that Magical March formula that bolstered FAU to the Final 4 and a point away from a National Championship game.

  • Michigan Football social media sent out clips of the first spring practice.   The highlight was new IU transfer WR Donaven McCulley #13 making a contested catch.   Which made me very happy!
  • There was also some buzz that freshman WR Jamar Browder made a great catch as well.
  • Offensive lineman Lawrence Hattar and wide receiver Anthony Simpson are not listed on the spring roster. Both players are expected to arrive in the summer and were transfer portal additions.
  • Do you have weird things that make you happy?  For some reason, I love Josh Gattis career updates.  I believe he was out of coaching last year after his last role as the OC of Maryland.  Josh is now expected to join Syracuse in some type of coaching role.
