Bill Martin announced his retirement today and will step down on 9/4/2010. Michigan President Mary Sue Coleman will lead the search committee for a new AD. Expect Lloyd Carr to be a candidate but I'm not sure he would be interested and it's probably not a good idea for him to be the boss of the man who replaced him. I guess you could say Bill is; "sailing away into the sunset"
Mgoblog has a few candidates including: Bob De Carolis - Oregon State's AD, Jeff Long AD at Arkansas, Warde Manuel AD at Buffalo, and Brad Bates AD at Miami of Ohio.
- With Terrelle Pryor's recent struggles in "The Vests" offense a number of people in the media have wondered out loud if he made a mistake in going to OSU. Seems his former HS coach Ray Reitz has opinion as well: "There is no question that Rich Rodriguez's offense, for example, would be more apt to suit Terrelle's skills," Reitz said. "But Ohio State sold him on the idea that they would prepare him for the NFL and that they don't run 'zone-read' in the NFL. Jim Tressel is a great coach. But I can tell you there is more to Terrelle Pryor than what we've been seeing." BHB: I think he has struggled in his first two years but I think the jury is still out on him.
- News and Notes from RR's Press Conference Today: Molk will start at center on Saturday, JT Floyd is feeling better after having the Flu last week, Tate and Carlos Brown will also be ready to go on Saturday.
- Jatashun Beachum a big Defensive lineman from Texas and currently a Arkansas commit is planning a visit to Ann Arbor for the Ohio State game.
- Bulletin Board Material courtesy of Penn State running back Evan Royster: "It's a tough place to play," tailback Evan Royster said. "It's kind of something you really don't try and think about, the fact that we haven't won there in a while or whatever." Royster said the Lions, who are bowl-eligible, have put their past woes at Michigan behind them. "I think we feel like we're the better team and we can go out there and still beat them," he said.
