I'm almost speechless on what I saw today, but you know me, I have a lot of thoughts about the product the Wolverines put on the field today. I'm just going to bullet for you my random thoughts, please beware this an emotional and mostly negative take on the game this afternoon.
- Coach Whitt looks like a Deer in Headlights
- Coach Beck has done a terrible job with this Michigan offense
- Bryce is not ready to be Michigan's QB
- He missed a check down on 4th down to a wide-open TE
- He missed Marsh butt naked open and throws a pick when forcing the ball to JJ
- He is a one read QB right now
- As soon as one thing goes wrong, he loses all confidence
- That 4th down throw looked like a FU to the Michigan program
- Byrce is not processing the position fast enough
- To me he has regressed and not taken a step forward from last season
- This is some RR year 1 bull shit
- It's time to give Carr and that Colorado State QB a shot
- The defense played really well but you can't play football when you're on the field the entire game.
- The defense even gave Michigan 7 points
- I thought we had the best OL coach in college football?
- The penalties and turnovers continued
- Marsh is not a confident punt returner
- Marsh also had a big drop
- Another terrible call by Coach Beck on 3rd an 1 early
- You can't pay a HS senior QB all that money, you have to follow the Miami model. Recruit both lines and skill positions and overpay for the best college QB every year.
I will restate this: I wondered out loud if hiring Coach Whit at Michigan and Matt Campbell meant we were getting Utah and Iowa State in the Big Ten and that is exactly what we have gotten this year. Michigan is not a good football team, they play good defense and Coach Hill has done a nice job. The offense is completely backwards.
I'm happy Byrce got his money, but I've seen enough to know that he is not going to be a good QB at Michigan. I wish him well at his next stop but it's so easy to defend Michigan when Byrce is the QB.
You double his first option and then you know he is going to run. If you stop Michigan's run game, you win the game.
I'm very concerned that Coach Whitt is not the right man for this job. He seems very disconnected from the program and letting his coordinators run the show and Beck is running some system that does not fit the Michigan personnel. I'm stunned at the play calling and lack of execution at every level on offense. There really should be consideration if Beck is the OC on Monday. I don't expect a change, but this level of performance is un-acceptable.
Michigan has two weeks to figure stuff out for the rest of the year. If they don't there are going to be some very difficult decisions for this staff and future roster.
Michigan and its $40M roster just lost to Iowa and Minnesota in back-to-back weeks. If that is my money, I would want some answers.

Great write-up by Bob..... My whining can't beat that so I will shut up for a change.
I totally agree with what you say Bob, that coach Willingham, is a deer in front of headlights right now. That call on 3rd and 1 and their first position was terrible!! But I also think that the pass interference penalty on Minnesota's first drive was a bad call!!
Thank the Good Lord I gave up my season tickets. What a Joke this team is
Guys, we only had 150 yard of total offense. This . Reminds me of Shieron Moore first year with no quarterback.
In Rich Rodriguez, first year pure garbage
Blue for life
so lets face it. except for some, not all Michigan fans, we've lost 3 games already. Its obvious that BU is not the answer. The OL is not good, but that doesn't excuse Bryce's inability to not read defenses and his proclivity to throw into double coverage. I'd see what if anything Tommy Carr brings to the table. From a football perspective...I repeat.....FOOTBALL perspective Bryce Underwood isn't very smart! He just doesn't understand the game!
There's no reason in the NIL/TP era that a program like Michigan tries to take a HS kid and develop him as a QB. You do what other big time programs do! You poach the best available QB out of the TP. $12M would of been better spent on an established college QB than a HS kid!
I'm really starting to wonder if we hired our Jonathan Smith. A guy that just doesn't understand the B1G. I had reservations why a 66 year old man that spent the bulk of his coaching career at Utah, decided to come to Michigan after getting the boot at Utah. don't get it twisted, Utah was moving on whether he stepped down or they had to fire him. To me, it screams just collecting a paycheck! This team is still incredibly undisciplined! Too many penalties! watching this team makes me think Whitt is just going thru the motions!
Finally, I know a lot of you hate calling out players, but this is the NIL era and if you're any good, you're getting paid to play. If you're not? you shouldn't be starting at Michigan.....enter Evan Link....He gives me a Kyle Kalis vibe. He stands out like a sore thumb, standing there looking for someone to block. you can always find #71 out there...he's the guy, head on a swivel with the "which way did they go" posture!
oh and can we quit with the effing wildcat? its not 1998 or 2007.....its effing 2026 and you have a 230 lb QB. I'VE ALWAYS HATED THE WILDCAT. its stupid...hey defense we're running the ball. at least with BU you have the illusion that you can have an option to throw the ball. Not that BU can hit the side of the stadium with a football. have I mentioned that I think he sucks?
Bryce may not be a super star but I don't think he's the problem. He was abused by a poor performance of the O line. He took a beating. The coaches never adjusted to what the team and QB could do.
Due to circumstances this year this was the first game I watched live. Kudo's to the defense. They played well, kept the score close, and had to be totally gassed at the end. The second good thing was I paid the subscription to FoxSports1to see this game and found out I can cancel within three days. Makes me feel better I don't have to pay for that disaster. Everything else has been said.
Look I respect your opinion, but there are times he's got protection and he still throws into triple coverage. He locks on his primary and predetermines where he's going to throw, no matter what look the D is giving him. The OL is not good, the fact that Evan Link is starting is all you have to say, but BU can't read a defense. Some guys never learn...the rely totally on their athleticism!
I hear ya! I'm going to be right with you in about 3 months when my cable deal is up. I'm dropping cable TV and just keeping internet. I certainly wouldn't even pay more to watch any of the sport teams in this town. Not Michigan, not the Tigers, not the Pistons and certainly not the Red Wings aka the new Dead Things!
I lied when I said I would not post anymore today. I believe zmichigan has the richest alumni base (or at least top 3). The fact that other teams (such as Indiana cost
The wildcat? If I'm the head coach, I tell the OC you run the wildcat one more damn time, you're fired! I was on the zero turn so had to listen to the pom-pom girls, aka Karsh and Jensen. When Karsh said we were lined up in the Wildcat think the neighbors could hear me yell NO!
indiana can now eat our lunch. Our football team has morphed into a hockey team. You ask how can this be ..... Our team turned into A "Cluster Puck"
BU has almost 20 starts. There are NFL QBs that didn’t have 20 starts in college. Meaning…..it ain’t happening. Underwood ain’t breaking any laws but he’s a thief alright! He robbed those NIL doners. A new Pres and AD are coming, they may want their own coaching staff. Whit took decent talent at Utah and made them NFL caliber. Really thought the sky was the limit with him having elite talent. Next up, Pedophile State in what we will call the Dissapointment Bowl. I think we are going to hear 100K booing.
