Wolverine Wednesday: What Are We Doing?

CBS and ESPN are struggling with being media companies and being profitable.  So here is a question for you:  Why are they paying these guys in the booth so much?  Tony Romo which CBS clearly wants to cleary cut ties with gets paid $1M per game.  Monday Night Football host Joe Buck just signed a $108M extension.  For working one night a week for 17 - 18 weeks?

These companies really think people are tuning in for the folks in the booth and not the game?  This entire industry needs a reboot.

  • University of Miami is moving from adidas to Nike next year.
  • Oklahoma needs to be very careful with New Mexico this weekend.
  • WMU has Boise State in two weeks.  It would be great for Michigan if they are ranked
  • The Dabo vs. Capel Bill might have one of those old pro wrestling, "Loser leaves town games this weekend'
  • It makes me proud and pissed that Coach Minter and Coach Mac are seeing so much success in the NFL.  Michigan's program would be in a different place if Jesse Minter was our head coach right now.

I do the exact same thing, sometimes while I read.

In all fairness to coach Whit, the program would be in a different place without him right now. Remember, just 9 months ago he took over an absolute $**t show where it really looked like we had burned our last candle and were about to be destroyed. He kept the team together, got a great staff in place, and got the train back on the track. We are lucky we didn't burn to the ground after that debacle.

so maybe I'm the grumpy old man that yells at the neighborhood kids to stay off my lawn, but I really wonder if sports in general is on the precipice. they've done everything they can to squeeze every last dime out of sports. me for example...I said eff it, not paying extra beyond my current cable plan to see sports. didn't sign up for Tigers...definitely wouldn't pay an extra nickel to see the shit show that's the Red Wings. I'm aging myself, but I remember when you could tune into channel 4 for the Tigers and channel 50 for the Wings and Pistons. I'm done...if Michigan is on a streaming platform, I'm not paying to watch them. I'm just done...I'm old enough that sports has gone from a nice distraction to a drain of our wallets. so to answer Bob's question...I hope they all go bankrupt!

Also, nobody at home watches the commercials. They switch stations, go to the bath room, get food, walk around. Anything but the interminable TV ads.
