I drink Arnold Palmer's, if your not familiar it's half ice tea and half lemonade. Other's call it half and half. At a restaurant one time, I ordered a half and half and they brought me half sweet tea and half regular ice tea, which doesn't make sense to me.
Today's game was 2 distinct different halves. The first half had 2 turnovers and 2 lapes by the defense that led to two separate occasions where UTEP was leading the Wolverines 7-0 and 14-7. Michigan's offense looked like a bad high school offense. You can't run right at a box full of defenders, doesn't matter the quality of the defense, they can tackle the RB when they have a numbers advantage.
Michigan limped to 3 point lead at half-time and felt lucky to be leading by that much. Then the 2nd half became the dominating defense, Marsh, and Underwood show. The defense decided to lead with aggression and limited the UTEP offense to negative yards for the 3rd quarter and Beck decided running into a loaded box was a fool's errand.
Michigan dominated from that point on and it was game over. I was worried about this staffs ability to adjust strategy at the half, but they did that and Coach Whitt got the team back to playing with energy and aggression.

First half was full of WMU flashbacks for the fans, the players, and the coaches. Good on the staff for re-focusing the team at the half. Michigan can't have a half like that with conference play starting and a ranked Iowa team coming to the Big House next week.
3-0 and we will take it.

I can’t watch these games bc in Spain right now. But some of the video highlights show some real arm talent for Bryce. JJ looks unstoppable.
But that TD by Carr seems like a pass Bryce can’t make. That was perfection.
In my opinion and it’s only an opinion. Bryce is not performing to a standard worthy of the praise he receives. Seems like he’s kind of holding back the offense rather than contributing to it. Example is yes Bryce can run well so the coaches create rpo’s and option plays etc. that create running opportunities for him, then he fumbles once or twice a game. He has arm talent in terms of arm strength, great but he often doesn’t understand what defense he’s looking at so he doesn’t know where the ball needs to go. I hope he improves a lot because I definitely don’t see how he’s worth the money he’s getting.
kind of reminds me of some other guys: Jabril Peppers and even Rashan Gary. Thought Chase Winovich was the better DL on those teams! Just sayin'
Yeah some of the comments on TV are heaping praise and I'm like...nah man, I'm not seeing the same thing! has he improved? sure, but could he of really gotten worse? The turnovers GOTTA stop. I mean for a man that's 6'3" 230? He's has to be stronger with hands on the ball. He's definitely a work in progress and I hate to say it, but I think his improvements are going to be baby steps and not huge strides. he just looks like a guy that was able to get by on just being more physically gifted then most of the players around him and that is no longer the case.
Tommy Carr...he surprised me. I thought he was just going to be a pocket guy and his running was a pleasant surprise. And I got to admit, seeing the shots of the Carr box...I'm assuming that woman was his mom, got to say, I got a little emotional myself.
I guess the fear also with Bryce is Michigan continues to pay he stays gets a tiny bit better over the course of a season, we keep talking about his up side his ceiling blah blah blah. Them Carr doesn’t see opportunities so he transfers now you’ve lost what looks like a solid quarterback playing back up to keep the guy who keeps turning the ball over. His turnovers will cost Michigan games no doubt. Work Carr, start Carr in a few games let him know how important he is pay him I guess. I’m guessing by next season he’s going to expect starting reps if not he gone.
Yes the dogs were hiding in their crates, and yes I was yelling at the TV early. Hold on to the dang ball! BU HAS to cut down on his turnovers, the margin for this offense is razor thin. Then Hiter decided to get into the fumble act! ARG!
Please don't come at me with they scored 50 pts. Its UTEP for God's sakes. Did you hear the one comment at the beginning of the broadcast. They replaced ALL 11 starters on offense. They got their QB from Our Lady of Unsalted Butter or something like that. And decent power 4 team is going to run it up on them.
BU? BU? Did he look better? Sure! Did he look polished or elite? Um...NO! And I agree with Goose, I'm almost to the point of just watching the game on mute. Its one thing to blather on about things he did, but don't make stuff up. I like Jake Butt, think he's pretty good on the broadcast, but every once in a while that Maize and Blue sneaks thru. Next week is the real test. I mean how much was him growing as a QB this week and how much was it UTEP?
I see you TC. boy has better wheels than I would of thought and it was nice to see his Mama getting all excited. I get he was in against the B team pretty much, but he was also playing with the B team as well. What I liked was it didn't look like the moment was too big for him. I also liked how BU was right there to celebrate with him. Wasn't too long ago there was a QB that pouted every time JJ got on the field. Yeah talking about you Cade!
Defense started a little slow, but they are like sharks in the water. They test out the prey at first, but when they smell blood, they just flip a switch and its beserker time!
Part of me hopes I'm wrong, but another part of me wants to be right. I think when we get into the meat of the B1G schedule Bryce's warts will be on full display and I think there's going to be a game or two where the wheels just fall off. And then we might see what TC really is or isn't. BU was never asked to play QB at a high level before. he was an athlete that was put at QB. Sure he has a cannon, but the college football career graveyard is littered with guys with big arms that never figured out the 4" between their ears. There's a lot of positions in football where guys can get a crash course on learning how to play and function at a high level. Unfortunately, QB is not one of them. TC looks like a kid that was groomed to play football. Its in his DNA. BU is a freak athlete that I'm not sure really knows the nuances of the game. I never heard good things about the Bellville coaching staff and we all know last year's staff did him no favors. BU really needed to sit his whole freshman year and learn how to play the game of football. Wouldn't shock me if he were to get benched that he just takes his ball and goes home, i.e. the TP.
