Michigan Basketball on their European Tour played the Lithuanian National Team on Sunday and it was a very sloppy affair. First off, European Basketball is much more physical than the American game and clearly the Wolverines weren't ready for that type of physicality. Let's start off with my observations:
- Michigan is in desperate need of a backup point, at this rate Coach Boynton is going to run the wheels off Cadeau. Let's hope the Columbia kid is eligible and ready for that role.
- McCoy is a freak but very raw right now. He did some great things but also had a ton of turnovers. He is as advertised as a defender.
- When Cadeau is off the floor this team is going to struggle.
- JP struggled during the game in all aspects
- Costello can shoot the ball!
- Dusty's offense needs a big to contribute to be effective. Thiam went down with an injury early, Moeller did some good things but was not really ready to play as much as he did.
- Shooting was a bit rusty as well
- Game was not very well played on either side
- Roddy is with the team but did not dress
Michigan played well for the first two quarters and poorly for the last two. They lost the game as 3 starters fouled out in JP, McKinney, and Cadeau. Like I mentioned earlier, the team was not ready for the physical play and looked gassed playing a full game with 4 quarters and few breaks. The stream did not have commentary so it was a unique viewing experience.
Learn from it, heal up and play better today!
