Warde decided to go on the radio to do what he always does. Which is deflect and try to prove to everyone that he has done a tremendous job as AD the last 10 years. It would be interesting project for someone with a ton of time to do an Excel worksheet with one column of Warde's successes and the other side with his high profile issues he has had over those 10 years.
I think the failure side would greatly outweigh the successes. Yes, 2 National Championships are a big deal but he had some outrangouss issues under is watch.
Let's summarize what he said on the radio:
- He is proud of what he accomplished over 10 years
- The reports of his demise are not true and leaked to the press by people who don't want him in this role. The social media reports of his firing is "nonsense"
- He deflected the question on active buyout conversations
- He hasn't seen the investigation results or been briefed on what they included
- There is going to be advertising in the Big House moving forward
The best thing for Warde and Michigan is to figure out a buyout and move on. He is not a leader and is either not understanding the situation or flat out lying to all Michigan fans. Either way its horrifically wrong. His firing or leaving is way overdue and the longer he stays in the role the worse its going to be the Michigan Athletics Department. It's time for the Regents and Michigan's President to step up and do the right thing.
The WSJ is reporting is that Warde told Sherrone not to travel with his assistant in 2024. We know the relationship went back to 2022 and that there were plenty of "rumors. Warde went ahead anyway and hired a guy with no head coaching experience and rumor mill of problems as Michigan's next head coach coming off a National Championship. Worst possible move and he should lose this job just over that.
- Luckily there is World Cup on today and the British Open on deck, or this would be the worst day in sports. You can always tell the worst day in sports every year because the ESPY's are on.
