Michigan Tuesday: Sorsby Heads To The NFL

The Brandon Sorsby debate was going to get very legal and very troublesome for him and Texas Tech.  The NCAA and the Big 12 were flexing their legal muscles' on Monday to make sure he didn't ever play another down of college football.   So Brandon decided to enter the NFL Supplemental Draft whose deadline was approaching next week.

There is still a ton to happen here.  Will the NFL suspend him for his gambling issues? Will a GM take a risk on a player that has gambled on his own games in the past?  What type of pick will they be willing to give up in next year's draft for this player?

QB's don't grow on trees and potential good QB's are really hard to find.  If a GM thinks he could be a good to franchise QB, someone will take the risk.   Here is how it works:

Teams are divided into three groups:

Teams with 6 or fewer wins the prior season.
Non-playoff teams with more than 6 wins.
Playoff teams

Selection process: Teams submit blind bids for future draft picks (e.g., a 2027 first-round pick) on a player. The team offering the highest bid wins the player, forfeiting that pick in the next regular draft.

Most famous supplemental draft pick is: OSU's Chris Carter.  Only 46 players have been taken in this process since 1977.

On a side note, Michigan cancelled a Volleyball match with TT.  So it was clear they were going to remove Texas Tech from future schedules like Nebraska and GA.

  • Speaking about Draft's:  All 3 former Wolverines will be in the Green Room for the NBA Draft.
  • Michigan Football sent out 2028 offers yesterday which was the first day they could.
  • The top RB in the 2028 class Kevin Hartsfield is already on a visit to A2!
  • Izzo is pissed at all the leadership turnover at MSU lately.
  • Michigan Football is busy this summer up grading their practice facility with new turf on the practice field, new workout equipment and more visuals in Schembechler Hall.
  • Michigan will host UCLA LB commit Cain Brackney on an official visit this weekend

Here's the problem: Sorsby will have a cloud hanging over him no matter where he goes. One questionable pick...one fumbled exchanged at an inopportune time, and people will wonder if he's throwing a game or shaving points. Its why sports betting was banned for so long. We now live in an era where Pandora's box has been opened and there's no putting the Genie back in the bottle (I love mixing metaphors.....lol). From NIL to the transfer portal to sport gambling....we live in crazy times....and that's just sports!

and IMHO, Sorsby was NEVER worth $6M/yr! Texas Tech just has too much money and was going to spend it foolishly. $6M for Brandon Sorsby.....get the #$%& out of here!
