What a terrible way to start the week. This news is unbelievable.
I will just share my random thoughts:
Michigan has won 2 National Championships in the last 3 years and Warde loses both head coaches right after. This basketball program has gone for the top of the world to nowhere in just a couple minutes.
The entire roster can now transfer and Michigan has to find a coach in the middle of summer.
What a mess and Michigan Athletics Department has no leadership to fix it.
What are we doing?
Could Coach B come in for a year?
Will Dusty draft a Wolverine now?
I'm sick.

Is College Sports that broken we can't keep a head coach from going to coach a Pro sport?

Warde just hired Mike Boynton as interim head coach after going 119-109 at OK State and made the NCAA Tournament once.

Tell me it ain;t so! At least in college sports you cannot use the word "loyalty" anymore. Players/coaches jump ship for a bigger paycheck. What is next? > Cats and Dogs living in sin and creating new creatures together? Warde is equivalent to one of those "losers" you used to work with and always wonder why the management keeps them! Need Chowman's take of all of this. Maybe I need to join a "flat-earth society" to find some realism in all of this.
The fact that he's going to the NBA isn't shocking but the timing is brutally bad
Warde should've been fired a long time ago and anyone that has defended him because of the Dusty May hire, which was because of Beilein and the Wittingham hire, which was the perfect storm of Utah not wanting him, is just ignorant. We know why Moore was hired and also why he hasn't been fired and I will be nice and say because Michigan is soft.
Dusty may have eventually left Michigan, but you should've made him the highest paid coach in college. Michigan has the money or "play money" if you will, so there's no excuse. I am curious to know what Dallas is paying him as it has to be huge. There's also the fact you don't have to recruit the same day you win the national championship. The NCAA has ruined college sports and this is part of it. Dusty had a team that had a good chance to win another NC, but he's gone.

It's shocking and devastating which is true, however, are we really surprised? I mean really?! Think about it, every high school player wants to one day play in the NBA even if they're not good enough. Moreover, every coach especially those working on the major college level and they're WINNING, want to coach on the highest level...which is the NBA. John Beilien had that dream, and now we know that Dusty May was no different and has that same dream. Even Jim Harbaugh (who loves Michigan) left to coach in the NFL. Then when you couple that with the fact that these professional teams go after THEM and they are offering big money with huge resources to come, it's difficult for these coaches to say no... when their hearts are saying yes.
I remember back in January 1982 when Texas A&M offered Bo Schembechler 3 million dollars for ten years to coach their team. Bo didn't give an answer right away and people were speculating that he was going to take the job, but when he finally went public, he said that he thought about it longer than he should have but then realized that there were some things that were more important in life and Michigan was one of them. My point is, that those days are long gone kids, and if you're on a ship that is sailing choppy waters then you better know where the Lifeboat and the Life jackets are. Amateur sports will never be the same again. IMHO!!!
I wish I could say I'm surprised, but I'm not. The writing was on the wall without him signing his extension. Just more evidence that greed has destroyed ALL sports
I hate doing this, as I think Warde should of been fired, but I don't see anyway Dusty stayed. Coming off a Naty and the kind of stupid money the NBA can pay their coaches?
I'll add in that most Michigan fans don't give a flip about anything but football. Oh...we won the men's basketball Naty (yawn) signed average fan.
Look I know all you guys are Michigan sports animals! I bet Scotty even watches the women's dive team he's so Maize n' Blue. But I've talked to Michigan fans that felt the same way about the basketball naty as a fart.!
VoR. you and I have had our disagreements but you're spot on. Its hard to turn down the NBA. I don't know the details of his contract but I'm pretty sure NBA ball boys have guaranteed contracts. when to you changes jobs? when you're on top. See J. Harbaugh! Very astute observation about him not signing extension. I remember now that was mentioned in past .... he left the door open and wiggled out (or stormed out). Yes, I will begin to watch Michigan's women's diving team I bet they got nice rear ends and were skimpy suits. Like to watch them stretch on diving board. Maybe I won't have to take (OVERDOSE) on Viagra again.
