Michigan Tuesday: The Big Ten 3-Peats

The Big Ten has taken over the reigns of college football from the SEC and has won 3 National Championships in the last 3 years.  2 of the 3 were undefeated National Champions including our own Michigan Wolverines.   I've been critical of the Big Ten over the years and I think that criticism has been warranted, but it is nice to be playing in the top conference in the college football.  With that said, I'm also glad Michigan didn't have IU on their schedule this season.  😀

The game last night went pretty much how I expected.  I thought both teams would score a little more in the first half, but that was probably nerves and getting used to the opponents physicality.   Raise your hand, if you were like me, thinking on that final drive that Beck was going to throw a INT to close out the game?  I was more confident in the pick then the TD.

I thought the officials were terrible last night.  I'm 100% for letting them play, but some of those missed calls were unexcusable.  My last thought on the game is, I thought both OC's let their teams down.  Both had 10 days to prepare and it seemed both thought they could just run their regular stuff and beat the other team.  Get creative, get aggressive, game plan for the opponent.  I thought Fernando would have a quick passing attack to stop the Miami pass rush, that was not the plan.   Miami thought they were just going to run over IU's defense, which was clear if you watched any of the previous games, that was not going to happen.

Curt Cignetti has done one of most incredible coaching jobs I've ever seen as Indiana Football is College Football's National Champion.  I guess having a mid-60's year old coach is a good thing after all.  😀

  • There is a Mendoza already in the transfer portal!  It's Fernando's brother.   It seems GT has gotten really good at tampering as that is the rumored destination for the Heisman Trophy winning brother.  Here is a tip, hand it off to Justice.
  • The fraud Big Ten Commission gets zero credit for any of these wins BTW.  Just a dope in the right place at the right time.

Big Ten, Three National Title Champions in a row, two undefeated and one dragging it's ass to the game...

I was routing for Indiana as Miami is a trash program. There should be an investigation into the officials as that was horrible. Miami for sure was trying and instructed to take a couple 15 yards penalties and take out Mendoza. That spearing of the helmet into Mendoza's chin was crazy and no one saw it? There are officials in the booth and no one called down to throw the kid out of the game in the NC game? I am so glad Indiana won for that reason as well as these Big12 officials either are just that bad or they had skin in the game as this was horrible.

I find that Cig and Harbaugh have some things in common. Both are great coaches. Both are quirky and annoying, yet America likes Cig's weirdness but didnt like Harbaugh's. Cig may have peaked early though. Indiana is buying another team in the portal and question is; can they replicate what they did? I don't think so. Hoosier people will want him thrown out as soon as he has a mediocre season. As for Miami; it was liking the hurricanes of old; filled with talent but no discipline and poor judgement. Stupid penalties. Same ol same ol

Indiana's football program has an average age of 23 years old. That makes them equivalent to a graduate program or a rookie NFL program, while Michigan is one of the youngest programs in the country. When Michigan won the National title, they were a veteran team, and it was my understanding that osu last year was also a veteran team and they paid out millions of dollars to bring them back and eventually won the title. Do you see a pattern here? IMHO!!!

If that last pass by Miami was on the money > it would have been touch-down time. College refs are different every game. In the 80's (I do believe) pass interference was called even if there was no contact, but defender never looked back to play the ball. now pass interference is called only when it is too obvious! I predicted a beat down, which turned out to be a very close game.

Yes, this was like the Miami of old and Cristobal played for them back in the day. He's another coach that I like because he's a clown like Lanning at Oregon; they buy a ton of talent, but not good coaches. I also like Ryan Day as they spend $35 million a year and he's a clown. We had our own clown and now we have solid coaches so it will be fun to see a competitive team, win or lose.

Yes, get players that are experienced that's why the portal is more important now. They mentioned the kids Cignetti grabbed out of the portal and a few were from smaller schools besides James Madison. The guy can evaluate talent and can coach talent just like our guy Dusty May!

You predicted a beat down and it may have happened if the refs were any good. The helmet to Mandoza's head/chin would've been a first down and maybe a TD after. Also, all the holding that wasn't called by Miami was nuts and Indiana isn't my team, just an observation. So technically ScottyDoggs, you were right and everyone here owes you a beer!

Thank you Blue Monkey > seems like the Ref's are going downhill of late .... good observations on your part.
