Wolverine Wednesday: Topic is Frank Clark

For us we have to remove Frank Clark from our Wolverine fandom.  As Michigan fans, we consider former and current players almost like family.    They play for our team and if they leave Ann Arbor with out incident we consider them Michigan Men.  

Frank Clark didn't leave Ann Arbor without incident, in fact he had 2.  He stole a guys laptop and had a domestic violence incident near Cedar Point.   After the latest incident, Brady Hoke did the right thing and removed Frank from the program.   The details of the domestic violence incident are terrible and easily found.

Easily found for most people that know how to use Google or Bing.  I guess the Seattle Seahawks are not familiar with internet searches.   They said, they did an extensive investigation into the matter and were comfortable with what they found.   They didn't do an investigation, they interviewed Frank and saw the charges were reduced to not include the words "domestic violence" and decided to take Frank in the second round as their first pick of draft.  

Who is to blame here?  The Seahawks?  The legal system?  Frank? 

The answer is all of the above. 

The bottom line is Frank was going to get drafted by some team.  I was expecting a spot in the 5th-6th round.  If Frank didn't have his latest incident, I thought he was probably a 3rd round pick at the highest.   Frank had a nice highlight tape, but if you ask any Michigan Football fan, he/she would probably say that Frank would disappear for games at a time and rarely had a consistent impact.

Seattle looks terrible in this matter, they said they did an investigation and clearly didn't.  This doesn't help Frank either, Frank deserves to make a living and if he is good enough to make a living on the football field, he probably deserves to earn money in that sport.    If he was picked in the 6th round, the media attention would be a lot less if any.

Does Frank deserve a second or third chance?  That is up to you to decide.  Does Frank deserve to be cut because the team that drafted him didn't do any research and the media did?  Probably not.  

It's a bad situation all around and the best Frank can do is stay out of trouble and get really good at chasing QB's.   If he does that, like other athletes that turn out to be elite, his past sins will be forgotten.
