Wolverine Wednesday: Ty Extends His Stay

Ty Isaac extended his stay at U of M and spent the night.  His parents had work commitments and went home.  Is this a good sign?  Hard to say, but the insiders don't expect any type of commitment from him on this trip.   A decision is expected to be reached in the next two weeks though.   The sticking point for Michigan is two things:  they wouldn't qualify for the 100 miles NCAA waiver to play right away and if he did get the waiver he would be in the same class as Mr. Green and Mr. Smith.    The best news would be if he decided to sit out, because Michigan is without a RB in that class.   The only school within 100 miles from his home is NW but ND and Illinois are both just outside that radius.

Is anyone else a bit frustrated that Michigan didn't redshirt Smith last year?  He appeared in 4 games for a total of 126 yards and some time on special teams.   I'm still not over the non-Big Will redshirt.  I hope this isn't another one of those situations.

  • Correction:  Alex Malzone got invited to the Elite 11 and The Opening.  I had just listed the Elite 11 previously.   This kid seems to be flying up the rankings!

Basketball News Alert:

  • In an attempt for Michigan to have zero guys over 6'6:  Max Bielfeldt had hip surgery and will miss most of the summer and probably Chevy Chase's European Vacation.

  • Ricky Dole graduated early and is already in A2 working out with Jon Sanderson.

  • As you know, West Virginia transfer Eron Harris will be visiting this weekend.

  • #11 will now be worn by Andrew Dakich

  • #5 will be worn by DJ Wilson

Michigan doesn't seem to have a problem attracting good RBs. Personally, I don't really care if Isaac attends UM or not. I am more concerned about the OL.

With the harris decommit and webber leaning away.... Isaac transferring and having to sit a year could be a big help, adding a quality back in next years class.

the recent news of urban lier's recruiting smear of Michigan should be publicly noted by Brady... In the very same way Coach B commented on the video played before the basketball game in columbus... "that will NEVER happen in Ann Arbor, not as long as I'm there".
