Brady Hoke and the Michigan coaches have one rule when recruiting kids for any class: If you want to commit to Michigan make sure you don't want to take anymore visits to any other schools. If you are committed us, we are committed to you. Meaning that Michigan will not recruit your position any longer if you commit. Coach Hoke is clear with recruits: "If you want to take visits and you have every right to, don't commit to Michigan"
We have seen this rule broken a couple times. David Dawson famously took a visit to Florida and was no longer consider a Michigan commit. He later called Coach Hoke, worked it out and he re-committed and eventually signed.
Pharaoh Brown snuck off to Oregon for a visit while committed to Michigan, lost his commitment to the Wolverines and never got it back. He is attending Oregon and got suspended for a snowball fight.
Gareon Conley a Michigan DB commit was also tempted by a trip to Nike Town and eventually ended up at Ohio State. So it was clear he had a wondering eye from the beginning.
The latest example is 5'9 CB Shaun Crawford from Lakewood, Ohio. Shaun is considered a 4 star CB to all the services. He also has been committed to the Wolverines for sometime now but would like to take a few more visits.
He has been telling the recruiting services that he would like to visit ND, Ohio State and Miami. He visited ND last weekend as a Michigan commit. When he did that, in the coaches eyes he de-committed to Michigan and they started to offer other players at his position, but will continue to recruit Shaun.
The funny thing is Shaun considers himself still committed to Michigan and told Rivals that this week. Rivals has him listed as a commit, Scouts doesn't. This situation is unique because only one party can talk to the services or media and that's Shaun. The Michigan coaches can't really confirm one-way or another.
Shaun was due to call Coach Hoke earlier this week to discuss the situation. We are in a quiet period right now and only recruits can call coaches and not vice versa. Don't know if that conversation ever took place and we will just have to see how this one plays out.
We will also keep an eye on how many new CB offers go out in the next few weeks/months.

Personally, I hope Brady sticks to the 'no visits' rule, hard and fast. These are high school kids! Remember Boubacar Cissoko was a 5* recruit, Mike Hart was a 3* recruit. You don't see 3* kids playing games, committing and then wanting to test the coach by taking visits.. These * ratings, although educated indicators, are no guarantees and they go to some of these kid's heads.
Keeping to the 'no visits once committed' rule keeps integrity in the program, staff and process. Hopefully consistent success on the field and a return to the top of the BiG 10 and national rankings adds to that more sooner than later. GO BLUE!
