Wednesday Quick Hits: Should Tate Play This Weekend?

  • Dave Birk from A2.com doesn't think so. He also has some inside info on Tate's Shoulder: A person familiar with the injury said Forcier’s sprain was barely considered Grade 1- the least severe - but it still appears to be affecting his mechanics. His release point is lower than normal, and he isn’t fully loading his arm before throwing, the person said. I think the concussion could keep him out of Saturday's game before the shoulder does. I am also on the fence if he should play or not. I know he could use a couple of good series that ends with touchdowns but he also might need some rest for Penn State coming in next week. Denard needs more time under center and I expect him to get at least 50% of the snaps on Saturday (more if Tate still has a concussion).

  • The Little Caesar's Bowl is still in talks with the Big Ten: The release will be forthcoming," Hoffman said. "It's just a matter of dotting in the I's and crossing the T's." Though Hoffman would not commit to the bowl's place in the new Big Ten pecking order -- its goal for years was to move up so as to have a Big Ten team every year -- he confirmed the contract will run like the others, from the 2010-13 seasons.
