I know many of us are prisoners of the moment, Lebron is the best basketball player ever, that game was the best game in the history of football, that defense is #1 all time! I get it, we live in an information age and we hear and see everything. It's easy to think our time is the best or what we are witnessing for the first time is the greatest thing that has ever been.
I've been around awhile and I can tell you, this might be the best Michigan Basketball team of my lifetime. I witnessed the Fab5 and attended a ton of their games, they were young and super athletic. They would beat you with you with pure athleticism and solid low post moves by Juwan Howard. I wouldn't call any of the Fab5 a shooter, they were just young and fun to watch. If I remember correctly, that team was not deep and needed the Lakers GM to come off the bench from time to time.
This Michigan team is different. They are experienced, they play defense, they enjoy seeing others succeed, they can beat you down low or at the 3 point line. Now this team is not perfect. Like any team their jumper can go cold at any moment and they can have defensive lapses. Their free throw shooting does concern me from time to time. But when you are 9 players deep, your likely to have someone having a day to remember. It's hard to find any weaknesses in this team and we know the coaching is world class. If they don't turn the ball over a ton, they are going to be hard to beat.
Yes, football season is over and Michigan will be playing a snack food exhibition in Orlando later this month. This basketball team is really something special and worth your time and attention!
Speaking of the exhibition, its always important to consider the draft eligible players that might sit out of the bowl game. I wish I had more time to research that, but I decided to ask AI. Here is the list it spit out:
Rod Moore (Safety)
Rayshaun Benny (Defensive Tackle)
Jaishawn Barham (Linebacker)
Justice Haynes (Running Back)
Jyaire Hill (Cornerback)
Ernest Hausmann (Linebacker)
Donaven McCulley (Wide Receiver)
Max Bredeson (Fullback/Tight End)
Dominic Zvada (Placekicker)
Giovanni El-Hadi (Offensive Lineman)
Rod and Justice are clearly injured and I don't expect either to play. Max is also injured and we don't know the extent of the injury even though he tried to play against Ohio State. Ernie is on a vision quest and I would assume his Michigan career is over. That leaves the rest of the list to decide if they are going to play or not. For a competitive game, I hope they do.

Jordan > Lebron
Unless my memory fails me .... Bob immediately called the hiring of the Michigan basketball coach as superlative, before we had results. Lots of readers are complaining about the Michigan football coach. They are extrapolating current results and believe future results will be average at best. I believe there forward-looking vision is dead on, but someone in here is mocking them, Fine, but that individual cannot complain when things happen in real time in the future.
It comes down to two factors to me. Moore a former OL coach can't judge OL talent and 2 years ago he looked at the QB room and said "we good". then this year, some say Underwood was gifted to him by Larry Ellison's wife and Dave Portnoy. Moore didn't do any of the lifting. His contribution was Mikey Keane, and for most that have never seen Mikey Keane play football: HE SUCKS! So even if he didn't get hurt, he wasn't going to be a revelation at QB. Add in he did little to surround a freshman QB with targets, ie. WRs and he's over his skis.
Sherrone's flaws are too long to list. Nice guy, good cheerleader, but not a head coach at any level.
Basketball team is rolling and looked unstoppable against a 7-1 Villanova team. Go Blue!!
I think the Fab 5 had Eric Riley and Rob Pelinka coming off the bench. Cant recall anyone else.
I keep thinking of when Ohio St had Judge Alex, Luke Fickell, as their head coach. It took them one year to realize he was not the guy and that they could do better. They didn't prolong the inevitable and say, oh, he needs 3 years to see if he can develop his program and grow into being a head coach. No, they got rid of him after one season and hired a hall of fame H.C. that knew how to win a championship. Why does Michigan continue to make that same mistake with R.R., Hoke, and now Sherrone?
Mastermind, you are correct as Ohio State didn't mess around as they knew Fickell wasn't the guy. This is where Michigan is different or soft as Warde, the president and entire administration is soft and weak. Sheronne should never have been hired and they are trying to throw money to get the top players to mask his inabilities to be a head coach. If we had leaders, first they would've done a search which they didn't and now would realize Moore is not the guy. Then again look at the coaches like Hoke, RR and Lloyd Carr who also should not have been the head coach at Michigan. It's the same old garbage.
Did anyone see Ed Orgeron talking about how they used to go through the back door and offer kids money and now they go through the front door because it's legal? He was and still is a scum bag like Urban Meyer and we as fans all knew about them cheating and paying yet Michigan self imposes a suspension and bends over to the NCAA. Even if they had hard evidence of Jimmy and his cheeseburger, I would've told the NCAA that we will drag them through court for the next 20 years or until we bankrupt them. Another example how Michigan is weak and a joke.
