MSU Post Game: Jimmy F'ing Rolder

 Jacob Hamilton/mlive.com/TNS

If you're like me, the punt block game has left serious scar tissue on my brain.   No matter how bad MSU QB throws bounce passes to his WR's or Michigan is up on the scoreboard, I feel MSU has some crazy comeback in them.  I felt that from the very beginning of the game last night.

As Michigan is looking to close out the game with its running game, Justice Haynes fumbles and gives MSU life at midfield.  All I can say it thank goodness for Jimmy Rolder.  You can make the case he has saved the game for Michigan the last two weekends and probably has saved Wink's job.  His two stops on 4th down last night were crazy good and sealed the game and that terrible Paul Bunyan trophy.

Cheers:
  • 2 Michigan RB's over 100 yards, Yes Please!
  • Letting MSU make the personal foul penalties
  • Jimmy Rolder defensive MVP
  • 2nd half adjustments
  • 276 yards on the ground
  • Moore is always good for a late game sack
  • Hollenbeck had a good day punting one went 67 yards
  • Wink has finally realized he can't blitz so much
  • Michigan Basketball beats St. John's in this weird exhibition season

Jeers:
  • Chip has to find some type of passing game.
  • Morgan is going to have his own section here soon.
    • Great job catching punts as Goodwin runs into him
    • Tries to tackle Justice on a break away run
    • Pass hits his face mask
  • Marlin Klein was a yard off sides in his alignment
  • For 276 yards on the ground I thought the running game was average most of the game
  • Offense was very predictable
  • Hill can you please catch one of the gift interceptions please!
  • Sullivan's injury
  • Need to use Bryce's legs in the redzone more often
  • Missed opportunities to blow the game wide open early
  • Another 2nd and long first down given up by the defense
The game was ugly like most Michigan - MSU games are.  The difference was in talent and Michigan keeping its head, while MSU could not keep their composure. A road win in the Big Ten is a good win and Michigan now has Purdue on tap in the Big House next week before hitting the road to Chicago and Maryland.   The offense can't be that predictable and needs to find a way to get the ball to #1 and #4, if we are going to close out the year with wins.

Michigan benefited by that fumble recovery by Michigan State called back. Other than that, the teams "bumped ugly" and Michigan won what was otherwise a toss up (sort of) .... Bob's write up catches the flavor of this game ..... a rotten taste, but a win none the less.

On the opening drive after halftime, that Michigan State player was offsides he was in the neutral zone the announcers on TV said it was a bad call but it was the right call in my opinion.. yes Hill has to start catching those interceptions.. Frazier played better at left tackle

I had to wait all fricken day for that, and guess what? I get to wait again next Saturday. Very anti climatic feeling....

Michigan is a good football team, but not a "great one" this year. In the old days you solved it by better coaching, better recruiting, more innovation with practices and plays. What do you do nowadays? Throw money at the problem? Buy better players? WTF? Give me the old days back, I am trying to adjust but can't.

Add to Morgan- fair catch inside the 5yd line. He needs to be replaced with someone, anyone.

The offense is still terrible. Take away 2 or 3 runs, and the run game was mid. We have no pass protection or run blocking with any consistency. We can’t say any game is a sure win without that being fixed.

Morgan catches a punt and immediately runs sideways. Straight ahead dude, break that first tackle and it might be clear sailing.

I actually yelled at the TV when he did that for the 3rd time. Mind boggling

It's a shame as college sports are ruined forever. Jimmy was the one coach that said players needed to be paid and the NCAA attacked him and Michigan for it, but they could've put something in place, but didn't which blows the mind that these morons are making 6/7 figures in salary. We have our 2023 which was the end of an era, but we will always enjoy. Sherrone is the new Lloyd Carr who will win most of his games due to the fact we will have talent (paying like everyone else too). But this is what we have and expectations have to be lowered. Will he get lucky like Lloyd did in '97 and having Charles Woodson, maybe but he's just not a head coach. Again, this is what we have and nothing we can do.

Hey don't blame Morgan, blame the coaches for keep putting him in.

You may be right. In practices maybe he's the best they go?!?

Did the flag come out before the fumble? I don't remember seeing any flags flying.

Reoccurring mistakes throughout the game are on the coaches' and needs to improve notably over the next 3 games before the Wolverines entertain Ohio State at home, of which Bryce's performance at home has been much better than on the road. Which should be huge for our young freshman quarterback who has been quite impressive in leading the youngest team in the league to a 6-2 record.
Youth may have a lot to do with mistakes, but not the one's that reoccur game after game, this is on the entire coaching staff to clean-up, to where on Nov. 29 business can be taken care of.
