Michigan Friday: Last Day to Hop into the Portal

Why has the last two weeks felt like 2 months?  The portal activity has just been crazy and it seems like it started back in December.   I imagine we will see some more movement today, I hope it continues to be positive movement for the Wolverines.

Welcome Back to Ann Arbor, Glad you never left!
  • CB Shamari Earls
  • DE Nate Marshall
  • DE Dominic Nicholas
  • LB Nathaniel Owusu-Boateng
  • S Rod Moore
  • DL Enow Etta (back from the portal)
  • TE Zach Marshall
  • DL Trey Pierce
These are all important saves to the roster.  Enow was getting a ton of interest in the portal and Trey just saw his brother join the team.  I believe the new staff is 3-0 in keeping Marshalls on the roster.  Fingers crossed its 4-0 with "Marsh" in the last name.

The big news is 5-star athlete Salesi Moa who originally signed with Utah, thought about flipping to Michigan after the coaching change, enrolled at Utah, then jumped into the portal.  Will announce his college decision tonight at the Polynesian Bowl.   His brother who is in the portal is a former LB at MSU, who has also visited Ann Arbor during this cycle. 👀

There is also some buzz around a 2026 CAL DB Ernest Nunley who just received his release from Cal.

Important Dates:  Tonight at 11:59 ET is the deadline for players to request entry into the portal, Sunday Jan. 18, 11:59 p.m. ET is the latest schools can enter players into portal. 1/27 Add/drop date for classes at U of M.
  • Michigan Basketball at Oregon on Saturday 4:00 NBC
  • Want to feel old? Michigan Basketball has offered Jamal Crawford's son
  • Jesse Minter is getting a ton interviews for a head coaching role in NFL.  With John off the board, I expect hires to happen pretty quickly now.
  • 2 QB's back to their teams that Michigan will see next season: Mateer at OK and Moore at Oregon.

Those Who Stay Will Be Paid, I mean Champions. Wait, everyone is getting paid so never mind.

So why does Salesi Moa have to announce again? Listen, take your money, but why does there have to be another announcement for this kids ego or the parents ego? As a parent I tell my kid you got the Michigan offer and either you say you going there or staying or going to another school that's paying even more.

We're living in a time where this current generation is bigger, stronger and faster than ever before but they are so dramatic and wussified that they cry if they break a nail. They call good evil and evil good. They don't know what a woman is, etc. etc. etc. but yet, now they can get paid millions of dollars right out of high school with limited skills and now they're prima donnas, and they're ready to transfer if they are promised a starting position without earning it. There is no justice in this world. Who do we blame for creating these monsters? IMHO!!!

It kills me, you got to announce you're staying. I blame mom and dad mostly. Telling them every other breath how great they are etc etc... Got to reel them in every now and then....

Announcing they are staying = I got a raise

Yes, shame on the parents and lack of parenting. Yet we can't figure out why these kids can't handle anything and everyone gets a trophy. It's a shame but that's our society.

Voice of Reason, you are correct and it's sad really.

Who's to blame? One word- Internet

Interesting comments from Michigan WR Anthony Simpson today. Called last year's coaching "bullshit" and players didnt get a fair shake in practice. The more I hear about Sherrone, the worse things were.

I see the Chargers are looking for a new offensive coordinator. I wonder if Jimmy gives his boy Sherrone the job?

Appreciate all the above comments. College football has morphed into a multiheaded monster that even Godzilla would have a tough time subduing. After the dust settles, people might lose interest in college football, once all the pride is gone and just money-ball? Stay tuned to this same bat station and bat channel! I still care about Michigan football but loses done hurt at all anymore (no pun intended with Moore). A friend of mine is totally committed to this NIL, portal stuff. I can't take it, does a win mean what it used to be or just who bought the best roster. To hell with it!!! Almost ready to sign off on this shit show.

Not to pick out one person, but Chowman realizes things are crazy, but seems like he try's to still follow it with the new way of things. I try too but can't do it when players are jumping ship to get more money. In 1980 when I went to all the home games, I dreamed of being on that field. Now players are going to highest bidder. I bet Bo would have gone either of two ways, he would have quit outright. Has last but obvious choice would have been
If you want to play for me fine, but no money. hE WOULD OF BEEN RELEASED BUT HE WOULD HAVE KEPT HIS PRICIPLES.

I agree with the losing, it used to ruin my whole weekend. Now I turn off the TV and walk away saying oh well.. Pretty much the same way after a win as well....
