National Signing Day Take 2

  • 3:20 Michigan has flipped Georgia 4 star WR Brady Marchese 👍
  • Boom 5 Star RB Savion Hiter is in! 🟊🟊🟊🟊🟊
  • Michigan lost Zion Robinson to Stanford 👎
  • Michigan lost Julian Walker to South Carolina 👎
Welcome Brady!  He is 6'1 185 from Cartersville, GA.  His offer list included VT, UF, FSU, South Carolina, GT, WVU, Ole Miss, IU, Auburn, ASU, Vandy and many more.  He visited A2 in May.

Yesterday is clearly overflowing into Thursday as 24 out of the 27 commits signed with the Wolverines on Wednesday.  Some big hitters still remain on the board.

Savion is in! Michigan's two consensus 5 star players are now signed.

Julian Walker the 4/5 Star Edge will make his decision between Michigan and South Carolina this morning.  UNC was also recruiting him hard yesterday.

WR Zion Robinson is delaying his decision until further notice as every Texas school is after his flip.   So we won't hold our breath on this one.

Michigan is also involved in some flips of their own and hopes to make some noise with a surprise signing or two today.

There was also some news yesterday with Michigan rightfully firing their Special Teams coach.  Penn State losing their entire class outside a couple local kids and still doesn't have a head coach as Jeff Brohm was the latest to turn them down.

Keep hitting the blog and I will have the news with recruits as soon as it hits!

We can learn a lesson from Penn State's coaching debacle; timing is everything while having your next coach waiting in the wings so that they can try to keep the key recruits and players in place. This move is obviously going to really hurt PSU. Moreover, don't give the coach a big ridiculous raise if you're not prepared to hang in there through bad weather. A cautionary tale indeed. IMHO!!!

From everything I've heard the biggest threat to steal Robinson is Stanford

this is the 2nd time in a row with PSU. They didn't really have a plan when the hired James Franklin. The fan/alumni base was underwhelmed by the hire. Its not like he was some revelation. He took an ass Vandy program and made it slightly less ass. Right now PSU is going to probably hang on to their interim coach as the fire their AD for malfeasance. Look I have no issue with firing a guy if you don't think he's getting the job done, just have a damn plan.

Looks like Zion is lost; so now need to watch/target Georgia WR Brady Marchase. 10.9 100m speed and can RT punts

We also lost JWalker to USC. His dad is the stength coach there, gues he wanted to be closer to home.

I used to live in S.C. for a short time, and it's not a bad school but the school is a significant drop down from Michigan. Therefore, my thoughts are that they must have put some pressure on dad to bring his son to the school. If I were JW's dad, I would want my son to go to the best school possible and not have my child make a significant sacrifice for me, IMHO!!!

Yes, his dads one of the strength coaches at SC, but I'm sure they ponied up more cash to make sure he stays home.

I agree, no doubt USC came up with some significant perks for this kid to stay home for him and his dad. Nick Saban made a comment about NIL and players going after the money indicating that you can go for the money now (not get developed) and miss out in the future. Nevertheless, the Michigan brand is very significant in the real world (I've seen it myself), with an alumni base that is literally second to none, and we are everywhere. Michigan degreed people hold key positions of influence, and we look out for each other. Employers love Michigan graduates, moreover, if you're a player on a Michigan roster the NFL knows who you are and they're keeping an eye on you (even if you don't get drafted). Hell, Michigan is on national tv pretty much every week. South Carolina and many other P-4 schools can't say that. My point is simply this, if you're a parent who could encourage your kid to make the best decision for his future then you do it. I've talked to a mother who had a son that was a very good football player. She wanted her son to go to Michigan on a scholarship but apparently Michigan wasn't interested. There are other parents that would gladly trade places with JW;s dad. IMHO!!!

Calvin Russell still is in play. Apparently it's Mich vs. 'Cuse. Not sure how in the world that's a hard decision after the orange's season. But who knows.

Calvin Russell has all the speed and bounce you need in a five star- a dedicated spring in the weight room and he will be everything Marsh is.
