As I mentioned yesterday, there are people to trust on this story and there are people that I don't. Nobody from the national media will have the in's and out's of Schembechler Hall. That doesn't mean they can't break news, what it means is they have no idea the backstories, etc. I have seen a narrative nationally that Sherrone is in jail because this is some type of sexual assault case (we are still waiting on charges, but we do not believe this as anything to do with non-consensual sex).
Sherrone is expected in court today to face charges on whatever happened on Wednesday night after he was fired. From what I have gathered: The investigation between the staffer and Sherrone has been on and off since the summer. Both parties have always denied it. Which didn't give U of M much to go on. That changed this week when the staffer came forward and Sherrone was immediately fired.
The Regents last night agreed to allow Warde to continue in his role. My guess is the only reason they did that, was they don't have time to replace the AD and find a new head coach in this small window to save the roster, recruits, and the portal opening. Even the President is an interim President. Warde has absolutely failed at his job and has been the leader of Michigan athletics for some of the biggest scandals in the history of the department in the revenue generating sports. To be fair, Michigan has a pretty good Basketball Program and Hockey program right now, which I'm sure helped Warde's case to continue.
Now what?
I assume Sherrone's legal issues will get clearer today as he heads to court. I feel for him and his family, but these issues are now his own. I hope he is able to get his mind right, closes out his legal issues, moves away from Ann Arbor, and gets his life in order.
If Warde doesn't have a candidate lined up, he again has failed at his job. I don't ever like to compare Michigan to MSU, but they had their next coach locked down before they fired Jonathan Smith. If this has been going on since the summer or longer and Warde hasn't been doing due diligence on the next Michigan head coach. He is one of the worst leaders I have ever seen in any form of business.
In business, you always know who is next in any role that reports to you. If Warde is starting from scratch on this coaching search, we really have the wrong person running Michigan Athletics. The Regents know this and I assume this is a test for Warde to see if he can pull another "Dusty".
Timing again is the issue:
Kalen DeBoer is in the playoffs
Jesse Minter is in the NFL playoff race
John Harbaugh is the head coach of the Ravens
Jedd Fisch is preparing his team to play tomorrow in the soon to be the defunct LA Bowl.
I will throw you a name that is another hot candidate in the NFL. Jeff Hafley, the Packers DC. Jeff was the former DC of Ohio State, took the BC Head Coaching job and left on his own to become the Packers DC. If you really want to make OSU fans nervous, shoot the money cannon at him. It's obvious that timing is another issue here.
I doubt the Ravens are firing John, would love Coach Mac but he is not leaving Seattle. You have to get to Jesse or Jeff before the NFL openings do and still they might want the NFL working hours over the College grind. So that leaves Kalen and/or Jedd. Bama plays OK in a week. We can wait a week.
Warde find your Dusty magic once again and you better have been prepared for this situation, as it just didn't materialize out of the thin Michigan winter air this week.

so things that I've read: the university received a tip about their relationship. reportedly, she got a 55% raise, without a change in job title. the school (wink wink) investigated and found nothing. in the 911 call, she reported he had been stalking her for weeks. that Moore's behavior had become more and more unstable over the past few weeks. Did she end things due to the investigation and/or she got what she wanted, i.e. money and wanted to end things and Moore wouldn't let go. I do think this firing is all about Moore's stalking and his deranged behavior. Lesson to all, never put your meat where you make your bread!!!!
as far as coaches. Money talks, BS walks. nobody is ungetable. don't care if Jedd has a bowl game and Kalen is in the CFP, signed Lane Kiffin. there have been rumors since the middle of summer that the Michigan job might come open. Is that why Jeff Brohm has an extension, that is unsigned on his desk at Louisville and why DeBoer has been rumored to say he'd take the Michigan job?
So why would Brohm come to Michigan? Please...its Michigan for God's sakes. DeBoer? Bama fans hate him cause he's not Saban. now I have read that the bigger boosters have given him support, but Bama fans are animals....not like OSU fans, but does he want his family to endure the vitriol? Jedd Fisch? Again, UW is not UofM. he has no where near the resources that a UofM could afford him.
Great synopsis .... but do we need to replace Warde first, and who would that be. If Warde sux, you do not want him in the hunt for new coach, right? Harder to fire Warde if you use him to hire new coach! Warde is a wus and wears feminine napkins.
To get rid of Warde, reenact the scene from the first "hunger games" where the bearded guy that allows two winners for the games and then is locked in a room with a bowl of poison berries.
I was in a situation where a married woman fell for me (or pretended to), then changes her mind after you fall for her. It rips you apart but have to stay sane and do not let your tally wacker make your decisions.
It would make sense for every smart leader who knows that there is a likelihood of possibly replacing an employee fairly soon or down the road that you look at possible replacements. I hope and pray that Warde has had that forethought. The word on the street is that when Sharrone's issues were made known to the football world (and not the public) that a good number of the coaching agents were waiting for Sharrone to be fired so that they could put their client's name into the coaching hat for consideration. The firing took longer than they expected, and they couldn't wait and now we have what we have.
I will say that I'm not a Jedd guy. He's talented but he's lacks something in my view. As far as very young coaches go that's usually not my cup of tea for this particular Michigan job, but I would make an exception for Kenny Dillingham of ASU. He's been coaching since he was 17 on some level. Whomever Michigan hires even if they're in the playoffs they need to at least let the players and recruits know that they have a top-notch guy coming in even though they can't "officially" announce his name. They also need to let the coaches that they want to keep know that they have a shot at retaining their positions with the new coach (which should be a part of the initial phone interview). This should be interesting. IMHO!!!
A neighbor/friend just e-mailed me that Brian Kelly is our next coach (says its confirmed), either he has early unset Alzheimer's or I will start watching the world championship tiddly-winks tournament instead of UM football.
Scotty, there are boundaries you just don't cross. Like I said, outside of my college years, I never dated women I worked with. I would never date a married woman, if I knew. I did date a married woman, but I didn't know and I ended it as soon as I found out. I also had my buddies exes come after me and I shut that shit down too.
Scotty we don't have time. you have to have a coach in place by Jan 2nd (TP opens). you find you HC, and then if you move on from Warde, you make sure the next guy is ok with your coach hire. now I've talked to some who think Warde is made of Teflon?????
I would be good with DeBoer, Fisch or Dillingham in no particular order. I'd settle for a Brohm if nobody else is interested.
My deal breakers include: Chip Kelly, Brian Kelly, John Gruden, and Dan Mullen. I don't need some retread that's out of work or hasn't coached in > decade. I know Mullen isn't unemployed, but he's at UNLV for a reason....nobody wanted him.
I'm glad Matt Campbell is off the board and took the PSU job as the bloom came off that rose about 10 years ago. He was a name a long time ago, but he never won the B1G 12, which is garbage
Remember when Les Miles was the next coach of UofM? Before RichRod? got to be careful, who you are following on social media and if the accounts are verified. lots of people just like to get their jollies getting clicks. My buddy sent me multiple SM posts, one reportedly from Dave Portnoy that Warde had been fired last night.
I have to start backing off anxiously awaiting the decision, but if they hire another clown ....I am definitely out!! live if the vicinity of Texas Tech, might have to follow them, or Ohio U. WHERE I GRADUATED from. I hope they treat Sherrone in court like a regular and not Like O. J. Simpson!
That must have been some damn good poonany
Chowman- You are correct on this one. Shout out. 55% raise. Sherrone was another Kwame. Gangster stupid. Unreal.
Bob, you seem to like defensive coordinators as head coach, but i dont think defense is our problem. It is much more important, and difficult, to get a quality offensive coordinator in college football. One that knows how to utilize his player's talents and put together an effective game plan. We can't put up with another offense like the last 2 years. Pure torture.
