Downtown Chicago rightfully named on Michigan Ave. has a one of the largest Starbucks in the world called Starbucks Reserve. It's huge and they have all kinds of special drinks and pastries. It happened to be right around the corner from our hotel, and the family and I enjoyed a couple trips to the large coffee shop.
We did not buy any turnovers, but it seems Sherrone and the traveling Wolverines did. You don't win football games at any level when you are -5 in turnovers. Michigan did just that at an un-seasonably warm Wrigley Field on Saturday. Michigan dominated in all other stats, including fans in the stands for what was supposed to be a Wildcat home game. It was easily 90% Michigan to 10% Northwestern fans in the friendly confines of Wrigley.
With so much to clean up, this game was ripe for a Cheers and Jeers:
Cheers:
- Andrew Marsh is going to be Michigan's next great WR
- 189 yards
- 12 catches
- One game saving sideline toe tap catch
- Kuzdzal with some strong running late in the game
- Marshall with 143 yards on the ground
- Bryce threw for 280 yards
- #14 Jordan Young with a game saving pass deflection
- Z for making the game winning field goal
- The weather!
Jeers:
- Chip had his worst day as Michigan OC. On both Bryce picks the Northwestern DC set up Bryce and the Michigan offense. Chip has to be better moving forward.
- Sherrone continues to struggle with in game head coaching duties. I don't like how he managed the last 5 minutes of the game at all.
- Bryce's 2 picks changed the game
- Injuries are killing the Wolverines right now
- I'm sorry and I don't like saying this about any kid, but Semaj does not need to be seeing the field at all.
- Michigan Special Teams are just struggling right now
- Michigan punted once and it was a terrible line drive with the wind at his back, where NW gained like 30 yards in field position.
- Z's miss to start the game was awful
- Semaj's fumble cost Michigan 3 points
- a fake punt that everyone knew was coming
- 1-3 on field goals
- A holding call that took away a Michigan TD on the first drive, where Michigan left with zero points.
- 0 sacks
- Wrigley is a fun historic ballpark, but not a great venue to watch a football game.
This was another ugly game folks and the fans left Wrigley not happy, just relieved they were leaving with a W. In the last 2 games, Michigan beat Purdue and NW by a total of 6 points. Michigan has to be better to beat a struggling Maryland team and of course that team down south that is ranked #1 in the nation.
It doesn't matter how many total yards you have, if you're going to turn over the ball over 4 or 5 times you are going to lose most games.

💩-show.
Semaj being in the field might be the biggest indicator of Sherrone not being ready to HC. I really like him, but it does seem too much for him at the moment.
For a while, Jim was out coached (and several folks here said he should be fired). So I do think Sherrone deserves(ed) a chance. But I’m mostly now in the move to next option camp. I just don’t know who that is at this point.
As ugly as this game was, and yes it was very ugly, I'll gladly not only take any win on the road, but one that's nearly imposable to win when having a turnover margin of 5-0. This is a young team that's not great, led by an 18 year old quarterback, yet if you were to tell me at the beginning of the season we could be 7-1 in the BIG before Ohio State comes to AA, I would of heartily taken that.
Yet as ugly as it was, my feeling is yesterday's come-back march over the last few minutes of the game, cap off with a winning field goal may be a gift going forward in terms of a big confidence builder for the offense (been there, done that), as well as a big confidence builder for Zvada, one of being reinstalled in the Zvada of last year, of which we'll need both in a couple of weeks.
If anyone really can not see that Sheronne is so far over his head then they are in denial or just really have no clue. You mentioned Chip had his worst day, but this goes back to the OC last year and it all falls on the head coach. Dan Campbell stepped in and took over the offense because he knew there was a problem. Sheronne can not see and adjust because he's an OL coach and doesn't know what to do. He will win most of his games as Michigan pays and is Warde's guy so no matter what, he's not leaving. GoBlu mentioned Harbaugh and there were some weird years, but he won at every stop he had so there's a difference. People need to stop with excuses of BU being 18 and we are young etc. It's frustrating as he should not be the coach, but here we are again with a Hoke/RR situation.
Belamy should be let go as Semaj is his guy and coached him in high school etc. Now the rumor is (which I don't buy into unless there is proof) that Belamy and Semaj's mom have a thing. Something isn't right and the kid is getting paid so let him get his money and keep him off the field, but again, falls on Sheronne and his lack of ability to actually coach.
Guys, I told you and warned you look at the last vlog that this game was gonna be close. Well, we came out as a !!! Morgan needs to be benched and never see the field again. He belongs in a Mac conference. I’m sorry to say. One thing I could say about our team is even though we had our worst game of the season we still came out as a winner. Sanchez, please do not write on this plug. You are a little boy who needs to grow up
Blue for life
Any talk of firing Moore after winning 10 of his last 12 games, beating Ohio State and Alabama, and going 3-0 vs our rivals is completely pointless at this time in space.
Granted this has been a somewhat on the job training for Moore, never having been a head coach, which in itself is a strange hire at Michigan, he certainly can recruit, and he might very well become one of the top coaches around with more experience, or not, time will tell, for now he's not going anywhere, and if he beats Ohio State in a few weeks, he won't be going anywhere. anytime soon.
Moore will not be fired no matter what happens. This is Warde's guy and "they are young", excuses, etc. You say he can recruit like getting Underwood to flip...for CASH. Everyone can recruit with cash. Ohio State is going to be a blood bath as last year we had two DL go in the top of the first round which we do not have this year. He will win most of his games as we are still Michigan and we are paying too. Moore is a poor coach and you can fire coordinators again, but it falls on the head coach. Great guy and the kids love him, but weak head coach. Sorry to hurt anyones feelings.
Not making any excuses for Semaj, but didn't he recover that fumble??
A lot of you posting dont understand the game of football, and are just happy to get a win. "YAAAAE! We won!!" Anyone thats played the game or followed football a while knows Sherrone has no business being a head coach and hes got to go at the end of this season. I can't take anymore of this nonsense. I've seen better coached 8th grade teams than this debacle.
No
ANYONE can recruit at Michigan. We have deep pocketed boosters and a solid NIL program. We even have a scouting department that lines up recruits. Sherrone just walks into a recruits house, farts, and says sign here.
I agree and that's what's so frustrating as we are stuck with this and Warde's guy. He should never have been hired, but that's Michigan. I went to Michigan and it was soft years ago and now it's even softer. It's not just about wins/loses, it's about what we see and the lack of coaching. But everyone will make excuses, but remember, Michigan and many fans still think Lloyd Carr is a legend and he was the most underachieving coach during his tenure with the talent he had. This is what we will have with Sheronne as he will win most of the games because we are paying.
Sir Blue- you are spot on. Im trying to think of who would be the candidates to succeed Sherrone. Michigan never goes for the big name, unless they have Michigan ties. (Even Bo was under the radar) I dont think former DCs Minter or McDonald are head coaching material. Anyone worth anything is already on Jimmy's staff in L.A. That doesn't leave much to choose from. P.J. Fleck is winning w minimal talent. Same with Brent Key at Georgia Tech. Someone at UM has to know of someone thats a good up and comer.
Warde should've backed Harbaugh and he didn't and neither did our administration. It doesn't mean he wouldn't have left, but Warde's ego got in the way and shame on Michigan. A good AD would have talked to McDonald and Minter as money talks. If we actually had an AD, they would be talking to John Harbaugh and bugging him daily and telling him that he already has a Super Bowl which his brother doesn't and now come and win a college NC and again, it's play money now so offer him $5 million more than what he's making (how much money do you need?). As you say, Fleck does more with less. BUT, we wake up and realize Warde has no eggs and shouldn't be our AD. All we have is 2023.....
I'm over getting upset. It's like being mad you're 5 year old can't do long division. It's a shame too. I thought Bryce was having his best game and they were letting him cut it loose, but then he threw 2 picks. Which is going to happen with a true freshman QB. once again the RB room had to save the day and then we lost Marshall.
Defensively? I know I'll attacked by Sargento because he's all lollipops and rainbows when it comes to Michigan. But the 11th rated offense in the B1G moved the ball fairly easily. Thank God Northwestern doesn't know how to run a legal pick play. and what's with the piss poor tacking. We saw it against OU, we saw it against USC....this D at times just can't tackle.
And why, why is Morgan even on the team, let alone out their fielding punts. He HAS to be the worst punt returner in power 4 football. If he's not fair catching balls inside the 5, he's letting punts roll for 30 extra yards and apparently he's got the hand strength of a 12 year old girl. My God just drag an orange construction barrel out there and if the opposing punter can hit it, then they turn us over. Couldn't be much worse than Morgan.
Thank you. that's the best we have? a stone hands WR to field punts
I say it every week, but I get yelled at by Sargento.....I'm over it...not getting upset anymore. water's wet, b00bies are fun, and Sherrone isn't qualified to be the HC at Ann Arbor Pioneer let alone Michigan.
Mastermind is right. If you can't recruit Michigan with the brand and resources allocated to football, then you're a waste of organic matter. Brady Hoke was a joke when it came to Xs and Os, but the dude sure could recruit. At a school like Michigan, you need to be the whole package and you don't get to learn on the job. If anyone was ever born on 3rd base, its Sherrone.
Still at eh asshole...
Sargento...I'm your best...I mean your worst nightmare. and still at eh asshole? is English you're 2nd language? EH? you Canadian? huh, Hoser? I make comments for the rest of the community that care to read my opinions...you know those on here with a brain
OH...and can the announcers STOP with the Zvada is one of the best kickers in college football? that's the kiss of effing death. I think he's 0 for...whenever they say that. I'm watching the game with my nephew and I go $10 he misses after Gus Johnson says he's one of the best kickers....shanks for the memories....na na na na na....
EH isn't a word. Figure it out smart guy...
$10 is that all? Well maybe things will get better...
He called him Sargento. 😆 I guess that means his comments are cheesy. Lol
He was the one that came out with the ball when the pile was "unpacked."
Schenze why are still writing on this vlob after I told not to. Why?
Ssh.....Sargento is the only one on this blog site that thinks he's clever. let's not ruin it for him....he might throw another tantrum
