Michigan Tuesday: Pete Rose Wishes He Had an NCAA

Everyone knows that Pete Rose was found to have placed bets on the Cincinnati Reds when he was a player.  He was banned from the game forever.  Texas Tech who signed former IU and Cincinnati QB Brendan Sorsby who was found to have made many bets on IU while playing there.  Also a strange coincidence of both happening in Cincinnati.

The NCAA of course suspended him and sent him to the moon.  Then Texas Texas went out and found a friendly judge and I'm pretty sure the NCAA has never won an court battle and that judge gave an injunction that Brendan can play next season.

From ESPN: Texas Tech star Brendan Sorsby has been granted a temporary injunction against the NCAA that could clear the way for him to play for the Red Raiders in 2026, even after the transfer quarterback was declared ineligible for wagering on college sports.

A Texas judge granted Sorsby a preliminary injunction Monday that prevents the NCAA from punishing him for violating its rules on sports gambling.

Judge Ken Curry ruled that Sorsby's attorneys demonstrated he will suffer a "probable, imminent and irreparable injury" if he's unable to play for the Red Raiders in 2026 and enjoined the NCAA from prohibiting Sorsby from practicing or playing this fall.

I know Michigan Football's NCAA stuff is behind us and we don't need to bring it up, but this is why I wanted U of M to challenge everything in court.  The NCAA never wins and a court just let maybe one of the worst thing to happen in sports, slide.   Betting on a game your playing in questions the credibility of the sport.

I usually side with the player, like that former Ferris State QB playing at Ole Miss.  This time its a no brainer that Sorsby has done something that is not forgivable and he needs to be punished and suspended.

The NCAA has no power and its 100% clear.  Time for a new system.

  • Rez has reportedly worked out for the Chicago Bulls, OKC Thunder, and the New York Knicks.

Michigan Monday: Reviews Downtown

I grew up in A2 and spent many nights downtown enjoying restaurants, trips to the MDen, etc.   Ann Arbor and downtown is different now.  There are new hotels and a ton of new high rise condos' and luxury apartments.  It's no longer a small town area, its an expensive area to live and park.  We stayed at the new AC Hotel on Huron and was in town for a graduation party.

I do enjoy them shutting down main Thursday - Sunday and letting the restaurants have a larger outdoor seating area.  I will tell you living there so many years, it was strange walking in the middle of the street.  Most of the restaurants and bars are different but seem to be busy, there is even live entertainment playing on Saturday night.   I did enjoy the Beer Garden that was where that Home and Garden store used to be.  It was a fun vibe and my family and I clearly increased the average age when we walked in.

Here is the shocker, Ann Arbor is completely under road construction.  I've never seen it this bad.  Many roads are blocked due to construction and you have to take detours.  It's crazy that they have so many projects going on.   You 100% know where your going but you can't get there directly and have to figure out a way to get there another way.

There are some staples still left,  The Gandy Dancer hasn't changed at all, The Chop House is still around, even though MDen is gone, Rally House is there.   94 is still 94 and they need to do something outside DTW, that area looks like it needs to be knocked down.

I love Ann Arbor and always will, but its much different now.  Change can be good and bring new vibes and money to an area.  It also can be overwhelming and miss the mark.  I think downtown might be a mix of both right now.  I'll tell you one thing, whoever did the city planning on all this construction might have been on a sabbatical.

Michigan Friday: Welcomes Blake!

Michigan Football landed more help in the secondary last night when Blake Jenkins from Texas picked the Wolverines.  Blake is a 4-star prospect to 24/7 composite with 280th player in the country, 33 CB, and 43rd player in Texas.   Yes, Texas has a ton of high school football talent.

Blake picked Michigan over SMU, Vandy, Houston, Texas, Alabama, Florida, FSU, Tennessee, UCLA, and more. Blake is 6'1 and 185, as we know the Wolverines love tall corners!

Welcome Blake!

Michigan Thursday: Lying in Bed Like Russell Wilson Did

Former Wisconsin QB Russell Wilson has decided to call it a career and take a job at CBS.  Wilson became a famous QB transferring from NC State to Wisconsin (when there weren't that many QB transfers) and winning a Super Bowl (and losing one) for the Seahawks.   Good luck to Russ in his next chapter.

  • As you know there is a conflict on who owns the rights to a Duke/Michigan Basketball game, Prime or Fox.  Well it seems a new venue of the Marlins Stadium in Miami might be where they play the game.   That is a terrible decision and really strange venue to watch a basketball game.
  • 4 star CB Blake Jenkins is expected to announce tonight and is trending for the Maize and Blue!
  • If the Knicks win the NBA Championship, NYC might never be the same.
  • Michigan Football looks like they are having fun in a bonding trip in what looks like Northern Michigan.
